California Poppies

Spring rains in March have led to an abundance of wildflowers in April. It wouldn't be California without the state flower, the California Poppy. These golden cups revel in the bright sun, popping up almost anyplace there's disturbed soil. They unfurl their petals to soak up the sun's rays, folding them into tight rolls at night.
