Light planes are one way people get here from the city. There are more little airstrips out in the country than you might think if you only use commercial air transportation. Not only does each little town have its own municipal airport, there are innumerable private fields scattered around elsewhere.
This field was home to about eight of the twin-engine Beechcrafts when I first moved up here, but they have been gradually stripped down, repaired and sold off, and otherwise disposed of until only this one is left.
Several of the local residents keep planes here, and it's not unusual to drive by and see a whole collection of antique aircraft on the ground as well.
